Bringer of Light by Marisa Gasper 3/6 & 3/12/07 (Created but always existing) I was safe in the arms of the light (Warmth and love, full and empty, all, nothing) Endless day, never shadow or night I am guilty of much like Pandora, Much like Prometheus’ - fire, I fell from the sky just to find you (My sin was an act of desire) (Our one-sided nature was shattered) The spark of our mischief ignite The light became contrast to darkness The day complimented by night (The shadow was planned but I caused it) I played my part well but in shame I will always come after your shadow (For you are the reason I came…)

Epimetheus’ Box by Marisa Gasper 3/14/07 He gave her gifts of darkness Which he kept in beguiling box He hid it in her wishes And whispered it into her thoughts *The box was filled (full) with wisdom In pieces, together he made A cruel paradox of temptation A purpose that man must contain Epimetheus’ Box is the present That woman in grace must receive While obeying “forbidden to open” Overwhelmed by her curious need *

Silence of the Sea by Marisa Gasper 3/17/07 Woke with memory of her The girl with seaweed in her hair His breath had sunken in her chest His love had just awoken there *And all that love will ever be Is in the silence of the sea... But when he awoke another lay And lied and said that she had saved Something was awry it seemed He kept her all the same * The girl had walked a thousand miles Breathing air like knives… Pain in every step she took Made sharp with his denial… Sea-foam girl of mythic means Disappear in tide Linger in the truth of day The voice of love is silent *

My Story 03:13
My Story (Only in my head) by Marisa Gasper 4/8/06 I wouldn’t want to complicate Or use what is inside I wouldn’t want to take advantage of where You are in your life I wouldn’t want to cause you harm Because I am your friend So I will play out fantasies Only in my head I really want to listen to and Know you once again It’s been so long since I’ve felt love That wasn’t meant to end After all these years of Separation from a friend I will play out fantasies Only in my head I can’t deny that part of me Once dreamed of you in time And made you more than you were able To ever be in my life The younger, much more foolish girl Has become a better friend So I will play out destiny Only in my head

Made from Destruction by Marisa Gasper 3/17/07 Made from the destruction Fear will leave my eyes I will be a warrior Protected by your guise If I am made from bitter ends Shiva, make me free... And when creations are destroyed, What will become of me? Places that I fear to go With you I’ll take the risk In me resides a faith that binds A faith that I resist... On journey of the reasons donned I make a quest from fate I place one foot in front of me And mind the steps I take...

about

An album taking myth, story, fairytale, sacred images to heart and reinterpreting to my own understanding. Please excuse the production value of my earlier recordings.
